Giving a major boost to the '"Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao'' campaign, the Haryana government has launched a new scheme to give free sanitary napkins to women and girls of families living below the poverty line. As part of the ''Mahila Evam Kishori Samman Yojana'' scheme, 22.50 lakh women and girls will be covered every month for a year. Girls and women aged 10 to 45 years will receive sanitary napkins. As part of a second scheme, Mukhya Mantri Doodh Uphar Yojana, to help address issues of malnutrition, fortified flavoured skimmed milk powder will be provided to children between 1 and 6 years in anganwadi centres and to pregnant and lactating mothers. The milk contains protein, calcium, magnesium, B-12 as well as several vitamins like A and D.
