Meet Sumit Antil, India's gold medalist at the Tokyo Paralympics

Sumit Antil is winning high praise for his performance at Tokyo Paralympics. Not only did he win a gold medal but did so in style by setting a new world record. 

The 23-year-old hails from Khweda village in Haryana's Sonipat.

Sumit was training to be a wrestler before he lost his left left in an accident in 2015. A truck hit is bike from behind and then ran over his left leg. 

Sumit started javelin throw in 2018 after Dronacharya awardee and para-athletes coach Naval Singh encourage him to take up the sport. 

He booked a berth for the Tokyo Paralympics after winning a silver at the World Para-Athletics Championship in 2019
