Meet Marsha P. Johnson: the LGBT+ activist honoured by Google's Doodle

Jun 30, 2020 18:22 IST

To mark the end of pride month, Google has released a doodle in honour of trans rights activist Marsha P. Johnson. She is remembered as one of the key leaders of the 1969 Stonewall uprising, which has been a turning point in the history of the international LGBTQ+ rights movement. Johnson, a performer and self-professed drag queen, reported added the initial P to her name as a response to those who questioned her gender, standing for 'Pay It No Mind.' Last year, Johnson Marsha was posthumously honoured as a grand marshal of the New York City Pride March.
