Medical workers now wearing smart rings to track Covid-19

Mar 24, 2020 17:03 IST

A report by SF Chronicle has said nearly 2,000 emergency medical workers in San Francisco are now wearing Oura Smart Rings, that track data like body temperature and heart rate, among other vital statistics. Workers at UCSF Medical Center and the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital are wearing the smart rings to help limit the spread of Covid-19, with the recorded data being used by researchers to develop an algorithm that can detect the onset of the disease. With more users being asked to share their data, UCSF researchers and Oura hope to develop a working model by the time a resurgence is expected in the next six months or so.
