Maruti Suzuki’s rural sales cross 50 lakh units

Jul 21, 2021 20:05 IST

Maruti Suzuki India has announced that its total sales from the rural market have now crossed the 50 lakh mark. With over 1700 customised retail outlets in rural areas, the sales contribution from these Tier II and Tier III markets accounted for nearly 41 per cent of the company's total sales in 2020-21 financial year. Over a decade ago, the sales contribution from the rural market stood at 10 per cent towards the company’s total sales. As the urban market was affected by the global financial crisis in 2008, the company reworked its strategy towards the rural market various local-level engagement initiatives. Maruti Suzuki has one of the largest rural networks across the length and breadth of the country. The automaker has more than 4000 service touchpoints and has also specially trained sales executives to fulfil the requirements of rural customers.
