Manpreet Singh, 1st Indian to bag FIH Men's Player of the Year award

India Men's hockey team skipper Manpreet Singh added another feather to his cap on Thursday. Singh became the first Indian to receive the International Hockey Federation's Player of the Year award, concluding a glorious 2019 season that also saw him leading India to Olympic qualification. The 27-year-old bagged a total of 35.2% of combined votes which includes National Associations, media, fans, and players. The midfielder made his debut in 2011 and represented the country in the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Olympics and will now lead the national side in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
