Manchester City will keep paying their non-playing staff

Apr 06, 2020 16:07 IST

On Sunday, Manchester City became the first Premier League club to pledge publicly that they will not furlough any of their non-playing staff during the pandemic scare. The club announced that it had no intention of leaning on the state for financial assistance. City's decision will garner more criticism for the table-topping Liverpool who took advantage of the government's job retention scheme and became the 5th club on Saturday to announce a pay cut for their non-playing staff. Tottenham, Newcastle, Norwich, and Bournemouth were the other 4 clubs who were in line with Liverpool's decision.
