Mamata meets Shah in Bhubaneswar: Cong dubs it 'samjhauta baithak'

The Congress on Friday dubbed the Eastern Zonal Council meeting as "Samjhauta baithak" between bitter political rivals Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Many are wondering why Banerjee reached Bhubaneswar on Tuesday while the EZC meeting was scheduled for Friday. Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said, "This is nothing but a 'Samjhautha baithak where they have a reached a consensus of live and let live, eat and let's eat". He went on to question why Mamata attended a meeting where they were no discussion on CAA or the Delhi violence. Banerjee, however, maintains that she raised the issue of violence in Delhi in the meeting. It is important to note that Mamata's decision to attend the meeting comes after she refused to attend a meeting of non-BJP parties called by Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.
