Maharashtra govt takes note of reports on Mumbai power outage

Mar 01, 2021 17:42 IST | By Editorji News Desk

The Maharashtra government has taken cognisance of a report by the New York Times, claiming that the Mumbai power outage was a likely Chinese cyber attack. Home minister Anil Deshmukh has sought a report from the cyber department over it.

A New York Times said that the Mumbai power outage last year, which was said to the worst power failure in decades, may have its links to the India and China border tensions. The NYT report adds that the mega Mumbai power outage may be the result of a cyber attack from China.

The report by The New York Times claims that when the Indians and Chinese soldiers were having a faceoff at the border, the malware was being injected into the control systems that are responsible for electric supply across India.
