The Maharashtra government on Tuesday formed a single-member committee to investigate the allegations levelled by former Mumbai Police chief Param Bir Singh against state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh in his letter to CM Uddhav Thackeray. The committee comprises retired high court judge Justice Kailash Chandiwal and will submit its report within six months.
Chandiwal Committee is to investigate if Singh has submitted any evidence in his March 20-letter. It will also probe if any evidence prove misconduct committed by the minister or any of his staff. It will also examine if there is a need for an inquiry by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) against Deshmukh.
