Madrid's Pride week began on the 29th of June but it was unusually quiet as the Spanish city was among the many compelled to cancel the parade in order to comply with social distancing due to Covid-19. Instead of being physically present, participants tuned in through online live events and celebrated from the safety of their homes. Buildings and Metro signs carried the rainbow flag. Usually, hundreds of thousands of people would gather to fill bars, hotels, shops and restaurants. Spain has been one of the worst hit countries by Covid-19 in Europe.
