Apr 28, 2020 10:35 IST

Lucknow's Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute for Medical Sciences is all set to start plasma therapy for critical Covid-19 patients, according to a PTI report. The institute, which has constituted a special team of doctors for this, is awaiting a green signal from the ICMR and will follow the footsteps of King George's Medical University in the city. Convalesecent plasma therapy involves the transfusion of plasma from a recovered Covid-19 patient to a critical patient. A number of states in India like Kerala, Pune and Delhi have begun trials for the therapy to speed up the recovery of critically-ill patients.
