Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday hit out at the BJP over the so-called Love Jihad law issue. Calling 'Love Jihad" a term "manufactured by the BJP to divide the nation & disturb communal harmony", Gehlot stated that such a law will not stand in any court. Several BJP states, including UP, MP and Haryana, have stated that they will bring a law to check alleged Love Jihad. In a series of tweets, Gehlot called out the BJP for trying to "disrupt communal harmony and fuel social conflict". He added that marriage is a matter of personal choice and "BJP is creating an environment where consenting adults would be at the mercy of state power".
