The Tamil Nadu govt has extended the lockdown to contain Covid-19 till August 31. There will complete lockdown in the state on Sundays. Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami took the decision after a two-day review meet on Wednesday and Thursday with district collectors and health experts to discuss the containment measures in Tamil Nadu and extension of the lockdown. Tamil Nadu recorded its highest single-day count for the seventh consecutive day with 6,426 fresh cases reported in the state on Wednesday, taking the state tally to over 2.34 lakh. The state also recorded 82 deaths on Wednesday, taking the toll to 3741.
