Admitting for the first time that the country is entering that phase of the outbreak when the source of a patient’s infection cannot be traced and isolated, the Hindustan Times has reported that limited community transmission of the Covid-19 disease has begun in India. The report quoted a Union health ministry document issued late on Sunday night, which noted down the SOP applicable to current phase of Covid-19 pandemic in India amd includes both local transmission and limited community transmission. There are four main stages of disease outbreak. Stage I is usually when cases are imported. Stage II is when there is local transmission, which means a section of people testing positive come in contact with a positive patient with a travel history. Stage III is community transmission. Stage IV is an epidemic, when there several clusters of the infection.
