KS Bharat called in as India's standby wicketkeeper

Jan 17, 2020 15:10 IST

Andhra Pradesh's KS Bharat has been called into the India squad as a standby wicketkeeper ahead of the Rajkot ODI vs Australia. Though the 26-year-old didn't play the game but served as a back up for KL Rahul who stood in the absence of Rishabh Pant. India's first-choice keeper Pant dealt a blow to his helmet by a nasty Pat Cummins bouncer in the 1st ODI and didn't take any further part in the game. Hence, he was ruled out of the Rajkot one day due to a mild concussion. Bharat earlier was called in as a back-up in for Wriddhiman Saha during the day-night Test vs Bangladesh last year.
