Kolkata: Woman boxer ‘assaulted’, three held

A woman boxer was allegedly abused and physically assaulted on Friday in Kolkata. Suman Kumari, who recently won the Taiwan Professionals Boxing Championship, said she was first verbally and then physically abused by an unknown man near her residence at Mominpore when she was driving her two-wheeler to office. Police arrested three accused after, the boxer wrote on Facebook that she sought help from a policeman standing nearby, but he advised her to lodge a complaint in a police station. Her alleged assault comes within a week after former Miss India Universe Ushoshi Sengupta was allegedly chased and harassed when she and her friend were returning home at night.
