The flood situation in Assam and the northeast continues to deteriorate with at least 16 people being reported dead, and over 14 lakh people were affected by the deluge across 25 districts of the state. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has briefed Home Minister Amit Shah about the latest situation and 24x7 flood control rooms have been activated across the state. The Indian Army has been brought in, to aid the National Disaster Response Force personnel in rescuing marooned people.
