American consumer and pharmaceutical goods firm Johnson & Johnson will stop selling skin whitening creams. Most popular in Asia and the Middle East, the company said that these products face increased social pressure in recent weeks due to the ongoing fight for racial equality.
J&J spokesperson told Reuters that it will halt the sale of its Clean & Clear Fairness line of products, sold in India and pull its Neutrogena Fine Fairness line from shelves in Asia and the Middle East. The US firm said that the production of these products has been stopped but they may appear on shelves till current stock lasts.
