Rahul Gandhi joined the Pongal festivities in Tamil Nadu on Thursday and attended a Jallikattu event in Madurai. The traditional bull-taming event started in Madurai amid strict safety guidelines due to the coronavirus pandemic. Up to 150 people can participate in the event that involves men attempting to tame running bulls. The state government has limited the number of audience at 50 per cent of the number of participants at the event in Madurai. The Tamil Nadu govt last month gave go ahead to the Jallikattu event that has been embroiled in controversies in recent years.
