J&K: Rare surrender by a terrorist after gunfight killed 4

Encounter in J&K's Shopian on Friday saw a rare surrender by a terrorist after four were gunned down by security forces. In long time, no terrorist has surrendered during an encounter in the Valley. Police said that while 4 were eliminated in the gunfight, one terrorist is in their custody and would be dealt with as per law. The encounter took place hours after the body of a BJP-affiliated panchayat member Nisar Ahmad Bhat was found in an apple orchard. He was kidnapped by terrorists 10 days ago. Police said two of the killed terrorists were involved in the kidnapping and murder.
