Jammu and Kashmir politicians, including ex-CMs Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, currently under detention will be released in due course as part of a phased withdrawal of restrictions in the Valley, The Times of India has reported quoting govt sources. The decision to free politicians will be based purely on assessment of the ground situation by the local administration, the report said, adding that govt officials denied any negotiations between the Centre and the J&K leaders. According to indications from Srinagar, the administration targets to release the leaders in phases, possibly within the next two weeks, depending on the ground situation, the report said.
