Support poured in for National Award-winning actor Zaira Wasim, who has announced her "disassociation" from acting. Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah tweeted, saying no one had the right to question her choices. Former bureaucrat-turned-politician Shah Faesal said he respected Wasim's decision and wished her luck. Congress leader and former actress Nagma praised Zaira's courage for defying stereotypes. However, on Twitter, the argument quickly snowballed. Relationship with religion can't be threatened due to the work. Others said that if TMC MP Nusrat Jahan—who came under the fire of Islamic clerics can wear a sindoor and mangalsutra, Wasim should not be criticised either.
