Hundreds of Iraqi mourners tried to storm the US embassy in Baghdad on Tuesday following deadly US airstrikes that killed 25 fighters from an Iran-backed Shiite militia the war-torn country last week. The mourners first held funerals for the slain and then went on to storm the fortified embassy site. Security guards were seen retreating as the protesters smashed security cameras outside the embassy. Protesters also hung yellow flags belonging to the Kataeb Hezbollah militia backed by Iran on the embassy walls. US forces bombed the militia on Sunday after accusing them of firing rockets on a US base in Iraq that killed one American.
