Indians the most overworked workers, with the least wages: ILO report

Feb 25, 2021 20:23 IST | By Editorji News Desk

Indians are at the forefront when it comes to being the most overworked but earn some of the lowest statutory wages in the world, finds a report by the International Labour Organization (ILO).

With long working hours, often stretching up to 48 hours a week or more, India ranks fifth in the ranking behind Gambia, Mongolia, Maldives and Qatar.

In contrast, an average worker works 36 hours in the United Kingdom and 37 hours in the United States in a week.

What's worse, the report finds that Indians spend less than one-tenth of time in a day for leisure, and women get far less time than men for leisure.
