Indian Railways creates low-cost emergency ventilator

Apr 06, 2020 11:00 IST

Indian Railways' Rail Coach Factory in Kapurthala has created a low-cost ventilator amid shortages in the country. Called Jeevan, the prototype is now seeking clearance from the ICMR. The device will cost around Rs 10,000 without the compressor and once the approval has been granted the authorities will be able to produce about 100 such ventilators a day, according to reports. The emergency ventilator was produced with locally sourced parts and is an original design, created from scratch.
