Indian-origin teen names NASA's first Mars Helicopter

Apr 30, 2020 20:37 IST

The first aircraft that will attempt powered flight on another world has gotten its name from an Indian-origin American teen. Ingenuity, NASA’s Mars Helicopter owes its name to Vaneeza Rupani, an 11th grader from Alabama, who was picked from NASA's "Name the Rover" essay contest. Rupani's was among 28,000 essays submitted to NASA by school-going students from all over the US.
