After successfully hosting the 2010 Commonwealth Games, the Indian Olympic Association is once again aiming to bid for the 2026 or 2030 edition of the games. The decision was taken by the IOA on Monday in their Annual General Meeting and will be forwarded to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for approval. The body has also decided to withdraw its call of boycotting the 2022 Birmingham games as shooting competition will not be part of the event. Instead, the National Rifle Association of India has proposed to host a separate Commonwealth shooting championship before the main Games in Birmingham. The exclusion of shooting sports from the 2022 edition became a major issue with the Indian body as it had earlier threatened to boycott the games.
