India sees biggest spike in 24 hours: reports record 3.6 lakh Covid cases, 3,293 deaths

Apr 28, 2021 10:25 IST | By Editorji News Desk

India’s Covid-19 tally surged past 17.99 million with the world's biggest one-day spike of 3.6 lakh cases, while the death toll crossed the 200,000 mark with 3,293 fatalities recorded in a span of 24 hours. India has been reporting over 300,000 new infections daily for the past one week, active cases in the country account for 16.34% of the total confirmed cases.

The grim figures come days before the nation is set to launch the third phase of the Covid-19 vaccination drive under which all adults will be eligible to take the jab.
