Feb 09, 2020 09:47 IST

India's first Marine National Park and Sanctuary were created in the Gulf of Kutch in 1980 and 1982. It is an archipelago of 42 tropical islands along the northern coast of Jamnagar and the southern coast of Kutch in Gujarat. It offers exotic sightings and fascinating underwater life experiences. Some of the finest coral reef fringe islands are found here along with seven species of mangroves that are breeding grounds for near-threatened species of birds such as Painted Stork and Black-Necked Ibis and endangered sea turtles. The sanctuary and the park can be reached by boat from Jamnagar.
