As monsoons continue to wreak havoc around the country, several modes of transportation have been affected. Central Railway officials told The Indian Express that services of trains between Mumbai and Pune will not resume before the 16th of August. The route between the 2 Maharashtrian cities have been out of operation since the 3rd of August after boulders crashed and blocked the railway tracks between Lonavla and Karjat. Over 500 long-distance and 30 local trains have either been terminated or diverted from the route. The region around Pune has also reportedly received more rainfall that Mawsynram and Cherrapunji this year.
