India Covid update: 35,662 new Covid cases, 3.65 % higher than Friday

14,48,833 tests were conducted on Friday, taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far for detection of Covid in the country to  55,07,80,273

India reported 35,662 fresh cases of Covid on Saturday, taking the cumulative total of the cases in the country to over 3.34 crore, as per the health ministry. The new cases recorded are 3.65 per cent higher compared to Friday.

The death toll due to the viral disease shot up to over 4.44 lakh with 281 more fatalities in the 24 hours.

At 3,40,369, active cases constitute 1.02% of total cases, while the national Covid recovery rate stands at 97.65%.

Of all the fresh cases reported, Kerala recorded 23,260 new Covid cases and 131 deaths.

The daily positivity rate has been less than 3 per cent for the last 19 days while the weekly positivity rate has been less than 3 per cent for the last 85 days.

Further, India crossed 2.5 crore Covid vaccinations in a day for the first time as the government delivered a record on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday.
