India celebrates muted Eid-al-Adha amid Covid-19 pandemic scare

Jul 21, 2021 08:16 IST | By Editorji News Desk

India marked Bakri Eid amid the Covid-19 pandemic on Wednesday with celebrations muted across the country.  People offered the morning namaz at different mosques across India.

To prevent people from breaking the Covid-19 protocols tight security has been deployed at various places like Delhi's Jama Masjid and Lucknow's Rumi Darwaza.

Unlike scores of people who gather every year at Jama Masjid to observe the festival, this year, only a limited number of people have been allowed to offer namaz at the iconic mosque due to the virus scare.

Jama Masjid's Shahi Imam, Abdul Gafoor Shah Bukhari said that the Covid-19 guidelines are being strictly followed and only 15 to 20 people were allowed to offer namaz in the morning.
