Imran Khan govt approves India-Pak trade ties revival, nod to cotton import

Mar 31, 2021 15:48 IST | By Editorji News Desk

The Pakistan government on Wednesday approved the revival of trade ties with India, the country’s media reported. Pakistan’s cabinet committee on economic affairs gave its nod to importing cotton from India till June 30, 2021. Pakistan’s local production is estimated to have dropped below six million bales, which would be the lowest in at least 30 years.

Pakistan had snapped ties with India following the August 2019 abrogation of Article 370 in J&K and the division of the state into two new Union Territories. However, since February the relations between the two neighbours seemed to be getting better as the nations issued a joint statement to respect a 2003 cease-fire agreement
