IAS officer in judicial custody after fatal 'drunk' road accident

IAS officer Sriram Venkitaraman who was arrested on Saturday for killing 35-year-old journalist KM Basheer in a road accident, has been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days. The 33-year-old, who was allegedly drunk, was booked for rash driving and culpable homicide. The IAS officer, who was travelling with a friend had initially told police that he was not behind the wheel. His claims were refuted by eyewitnesses and CCTV footage.
