Officials across India on Tuesday began searching for hundreds of Tablighi Jamaat activists who attended a religious event in Delhi’s West Nizamuddin that has set off several Covid-19 clusters. At least 10 deaths and several positive coronavirus cases from six states are being directly traced to the days-long congregation at a mosque. Infections are believed to be caused by Indonesian preachers who attended the event. The congregation - part of a 20th Century Islamic movement called Tablighi Jamaat - began at the end of February, but some of the main events were held in early March. While politicians indulged in finger pointing throughout the day, in its late evening press briefing the union health ministry said this is not the time to do fault finding and it is important to take action as per the government’s containment process.
