A group of scientists on a mission in the Gulf of Mexico made a historic discovery. A giant squid was captured on camera in the US waters for the first time. The mission was funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, in a bid to discover marine life. A special camera, the Medusa fitted with a fake jellyfish, was used to lure animals at that depth. The animal was about 12 feet long, with blue blood and three hearts. The scientists described the discovery as the most amazing day at sea.
