Protesting against the withholding of the National Sample Survey Organisation's report on employment for the year 2017-18, the acting chairperson of the National Statistical Commission and another member have quit. This report, the first by NSSO in this government, was expected to reflect job losses in the wake of demonetisation. The duo have complained that the government is sitting on their report for two months and is refusing to make it public. Congress leader P Chidambaram reacting to the development tweeted that another institution has been killed by Modi government.
