Govt is open to evaluating new technologies and explore cryptocurrencies and has formed a High-Level Inter-Ministerial Committee to look into cryptocurrency said Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur. The Union Minister also said that based on its recommendations the government may present a legislative proposal in Parliament.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday said the government is still formulating its opinion on cryptocurrencies and will take a calibrated position.
The Supreme Court had also asked the Centre in 2019 to frame policies for cryptocurrencies.
