Dec 31, 2018 18:19 IST

The govt has extended the Armed Forces Special Powers Act in Nagaland for six more months, till July, saying the whole state is in a 'disturbed' condition and the presence of armed forces is necessary. Under AFSPA, security forces have the power to conduct operations anywhere and arrest anyone without any prior notice. Nagaland has been declared a 'disturbed area' due to killings, loot and extortion in various parts of the state.
