Owing to rising onion prices in the country, the government has put a ban on the export of the vegetable with immediate effect. The government has also imposed a stock limit on traders to prevent hoarding. According to the Consumer Affairs Ministry retailers can stock onion only up to 100 quintals and wholesale traders are allowed to keep up to 500 quintals.
