The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday denied links between the saffron party and the top Lashkr-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Talib Hussain apprehended in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Talib Hussain wasn't even a member of the BJP. He used to visit the party office as a journalist during press conferences and political events,” said  Ravinder Raina, J&K BJP President during a presser.
Raina also claimed that the security forces have found photos and videos of the BJP office on Hussain's phone. "Hussain recced BJP office and sent videos to terrorists in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK)."
The clarification came after Congress came down heavily on the BJP over its alleged links with the terrorists.
Hussain, who was arrested in Reasi district on Sunday along with another LeT militant, was reported to be the IT and social media cell in-charge of the BJP's minority morcha in the Jammu province.
Soon after his arrest purported pictures of Hussain with Jammu and Kashmir BJP chief Ravinder Raina and his participation in party functions emerged on social media.

High drama unfolded at the residence of ZEE TV news anchor Rohit Ranjan in Uttar Pradesh's (UP) Ghaziabad on Tuesday when a team of Raipur police from Chhattisgarh tried to arrest the journalist. The cops acted on an FIR filed against him for airing alleged 'misleading' news concerning Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.&nbsp;
However, the Raipur police were obstructed by their UP counterparts who eventually arrested Ranjan.
A case was registered against Ranjan and others of the Zee News on Sunday for presenting Gandhi's remarks on vandalism at his office in his constituency Wayanad as his statement on the accused in the Udaipur tailor murder case.
The FIR also accused them of promoting enmity between different groups and outraging religious feelings of people. It was based on the complaint of Congress MLA Devendra Yadav, Raipur Senior Superintendent of Police Prashant Agrawal told PTI.
A team was constituted to investigate the case and it was sent to Ghaziabad to arrest the accused, he added.
&ldquo;Complying with the due process of law, the Raipur police team reached the residence of the accused in Ghaziabad this morning for execution of the warrant issued by the competent court in the case. After taking the accused into custody, the team was completing the procedure of arrest. Meanwhile, the local police (Uttar Pradesh police) forcefully took the accused along with them and obstructed the procedure despite the Raipur police showing the warrant,&rdquo; Agrawal said.
MLA Yadav in his complaint alleged that on July 1, a video, in which Rahul Gandhi described those attacking his Wayanad office as children and said he had no ill-will against them, was &ldquo;mischievously&rdquo; used by a TV channel to suggest he was forgiving the killers of Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal.
The complainant accused the director and chairman of Zee News, its Chief Executive Officer, and anchor Rohit Ranjan of conspiring to spread fabricated and fake news against Gandhi in a bid to incite communal riots and disturb social harmony, the police official said.
Ranjan had earlier apologised for the same.&nbsp;
On Tuesday morning, Ranjan tweeted, &ldquo;without informing the local police, Chhattisgarh Police was standing outside my house to arrest me. Is this legally correct?&rdquo;
The Raipur police responded with a tweet, &ldquo;There is no such rule to inform. Still, now they are informed. The police team has shown you the court&rsquo;s warrant of arrest. You should in fact cooperate, join in the investigation and put your defence in court.&rdquo;

The scrutiny against Chinese firms tightened after tensions at the border between the two countries in 2020, leading to multiple rounds of talks. More than 200 mobile apps, including TikTok, have been banned since then.

Amid heavy rains across Maharashtra, a house collapse was reported in Palghar district and boulders fell from a hillock in Thane, according to officials. They added that no casualty was reported so far. 
Civic officials in Thane's Kalyan Town area confirmed that some heavy boulders fell from a hillock but no one was injured.  Thane city, in a span of 24 hours ending on 8:30 AM on Tuesday received 146 mm rainfall, according to regional data.  Low-lying areas in Thane's Kalyan and Bhiwandi also reported flooding leading to evacuation of several people to safer places. 
In Palghar, district adminstration said that a mud house collapsed in Wada taluka on Monday following heavy rains. Occupants of the house were removed once cracks were observed in the house and within minutes, the house collapsed.
The house was constructed last year under a government scheme for the poor, according to the district administration.
 The IMD on Tuesday issued a heavy rainfall alert for Maharashtra over the next four days, following which Chief Minister Eknath Shinde directed the state administration officials to take precautions and ensure there is no loss of life or property.
The Kundalika river in Raigad district, located near Mumbai, has crossed the danger mark, as per an official statement.

Spicejet Flight Emergency Landing: A SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Dubai was diverted to Karachi on Monday after the fuel indicator of the aircraft started malfunctioning, officials of the aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation said.
The Boeing 737 Max aircraft started showing unusual fuel quantity reduction from its left tank when it was mid-air, according to the DGCA.&nbsp;

The airline in its statement said that no emergency was declared due to malfunction and the aircraft made a normal landing safely at Karachi.&nbsp;
All passengers are reported to have disembarked safely.&nbsp;
The airline said passengers have been served refreshments and replacement aircraft is being sent to Karachi that will take the passengers to Dubai.
According to SpiceJet, no previous malfunction was reported with the Boeing 737 aircraft that was being used for the flight.&nbsp;

In June,&nbsp;83,613 pieces of content were removed following&nbsp;36,265 complaints from users in India.&nbsp;Google said it had received 34,883 complaints in May from individual users in India and the number of removal actions as a result was 71,132.&nbsp;

Over 3,500 people had been shifted to safer places from flood-prone and vulnerable spots across the state, where several districts, including Mumbai, experienced downpour, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said on Tuesday. 
He said National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been been deployed wherever required and more personnel will be sent if needed.

Over 3,500 people had been shifted to safer places from flood-prone and vulnerable spots across the state, where several districts, including Mumbai, experienced downpour, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said on Tuesday.&nbsp;
He said National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been been deployed wherever required and more personnel will be sent if needed.

Father-daughter duo Flying Officer Ananya & Air Commodore Sanjay Sharma were etched onto the pages of history on May 30. They became the first such pair to fly in the same formation in the history of the Indian Air Force, according to a press release by the IAF. 
"There has not been any previous instance in the IAF where a father and his daughter were part of the same fighter formation for a mission. It was the mission where Air Cmde Sanjay and Fg Offr Ananya were more than just father and daughter. They were comrades, who had full faith in each other as fellow wingmen would," the IAF said in the release.
Ananya and Sanjay Sharma flew the Hawk-132 aircrafts at IAF station Bidar where she is currently undergoing training before she graduates onto superior fighter aircrafts.
Photos of the duo donning their uniforms have taken the internet by storm. Social media users have called the father-daughter pair 'an inspiration'. 
Air Marshal (Retd) PK Roy hailed the achievement and tweeted, "Hope to see many more in future."
"Excellent...what a proud moment for both father and daughter," said a Twitter user.
While Air Commodore Sharma started his career in 1989 his daughter Flying Officer Ananya Sharma was commissioned into the Air Force in 2021. In 2016, the Indian Air Force started accepting female pilots into its fighter squadron.

In its writ petition, the microblogging site has reportedly called the blocking orders "overbroad and arbitrary".
The accounts and content that Twitter has been asked to pull down include those pertaining to the nationwide farmers' protest against the three farm laws passed by the Centre in 2020, COVID-19 management, and so on.

The ministry warned that if content flagged by it is not taken down by the microblogging platform, the company will risk losing its immunity as an intermediary. The deadline ended on July 4.
The move came after the IT ministry proposed fresh amendments to rules governing intermediaries such as Facebook and Twitter. Key amendments include a proposal to set up government-appointed grievance committees with the power to review and revoke content moderation decisions taken by these companies.

A group of former judges and bureaucrats on Tuesday criticised the recent Supreme Court observations against suspended BJP member Nupur Sharma, alleging that the apex court surpassed the "Laxman rekha" and calling for "urgent rectification" steps.  
"In the annals of judiciary, the unfortunate comments have no parallel and are indelible scar on justice system of the largest democracy. Urgent rectification steps are called for as these have potentially serious consequences on democratic values and security of the country," the statement signed by 15 former judges, 77 ex-all India services officers and 25 veterans said.  
The signatories include former chief justice of the Bombay High Court Kshitij Vyas, former Gujarat High Court judge S M Soni, former Rajasthan High Court judges R S Rathore and Prashant Agarwal and former Delhi High Court judge S N Dhingra.  Former IAS officers R S Gopalan and S Krishna Kumar, ambassador (retired) Niranjan Desai, former DGPs S P Vaid and B L Vohra, Lt Gen V K Chaturvedi (retired) and Air Marshall (retired) S P Singh have also signed the statement which said the SC observations are not in sync with judicial ethos.  
"By no stretch these observations, which are not part of the judicial order, can be sanctified on the plank of judicial propriety and fairness. Such outrageous transgressions are without parallel in the annals of Judiciary," it said.  
The Supreme Court had on July 1 come down heavily on Sharma for her controversial comments against Prophet Mohammad, saying her "loose tongue" has "set the entire country on fire" and that she is "single-handedly responsible for what is happening in the country".
Refusing to entertain her plea for clubbing of FIRs lodged in various states against her for the remark, the bench held that the comment was made either for cheap publicity, political agenda or some nefarious activities.
Criticising the observations, the statement said, "We, as concerned citizens, do believe that democracy of any country will remain intact till all the institutions perform their duties as per the constitution. Recent comments by the two judges of the Supreme Court have surpassed the Laxman Rekha and compelled us to issue an open statement."
These "unfortunate and unprecedented" comments have sent shockwaves in the country and outside, it claimed.  Noting that Sharma sought access to justice system before the highest court, the statement said the court's observations have no connect jurisprudentially with the issue raised in the petition and "transgressed in an unprecedented manner all canons of dispensation of justice".
"She was defacto denied access to judiciary and in the process, there was an outrage on the preamble, spirit and essence of the Constitution of India," it alleged. In the observations, there is virtual exoneration of the "dastardliest beheading at Udaipur in broad daylight," it claimed.  It further said, "Legal fraternity is bound to be surprised and shocked at the observation that an FIR should lead to arrest. The observations on other agencies in the country, without notice to them, are indeed worrisome and alarming."
The signatories also defended Sharma's plea for clubbing all FIRs against her citing previous orders of the apex court.  "One fails to understand, why Nupur's case is treated at a different pedestal. Such an approach of the Supreme Court deserves no applause and impacts the very sanctity and honour of the highest court of land," it said.  
Sharma's comments against the Prophet during a TV debate had triggered protests across the country and drew sharp reactions from many Gulf countries. The BJP subsequently suspended her from the party.
The apex court had also pulled up the Delhi Police which has registered an FIR against her. The bench said, "What has happened in the investigation so far? What has Delhi Police done so far? Don't make us open our mouth? They must have put a red carpet for you."
