Global coronavirus cases surpassed 5 million on Wednesday in less than 5 months since the outbreak. The latest million took 12 days, compared to 11 days that it took for the number to go from three to four million infections. The pandemic has till now claimed over 3,26,000 lives across the world. Latin America has overtaken the United States and Europe in the past week to report the largest portion of new daily cases globally. Latin America accounted for around a third of the 91,000 cases reported earlier this week and Brazil is now on third spot after US and UK in the number of cases.
