'Gift to neighbours': India begins vaccine export from today

Jan 20, 2021 07:50 IST

India will start supplies of millions of Covid vaccine doses to neighbouring from Wednesday. Bhutan, the Maldives and Bangladesh are set to get first batch of 'made in India' vaccine on Wednesday as grant assistance. The Hindustan Times has reported that 1.5 lakh doses of vaccine will reach Bhutan and another 1 lakh will be sent to the Maldives. Bangladesh is set to get 2 million doses of the Bharat Biotech vaccine as a gift from India. The external affairs ministry said supplies under grant assistance to Bhutan, the Maldives, Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar and Seychelles will begin from Wednesday in line with India’s commitment to use its vaccine production and delivery capacity to help the world fight Covid-19.
