Ghulam Nabi: new appointed chief may not even have 1% of support

Aug 27, 2020 21:09 IST

Veteran Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad has emphasised on the importance of holding elections to chose to new party president and other office bearers. Azad said that an appointed president may not have the support of even 1% of the party workers but if a president is elected than you know that at least 51% of the party is with the new leader. He also said that party leaders who criticising him and 22 other leaders for demanding internal elections are doing so because they know that they won't win if organisational elections are held. According to Azad, letter suggested that state Congress chiefs, district presidents, block presidents and the Congress Working Committee should be elected.
