Ghaziabad assault video: FIR against Twitter, journalists for giving communal turn

Jun 16, 2021 09:19 IST | By Editorji News Desk

The Ghaziabad Police on Tuesday filed an FIR against six individuals, including journalists and Congress politicians, for sharing videos on Twitter that police claimed gave a “communal twist” to the assault on 72-year-old Abdul Samad.

The FIR also names Twitter, apart form AltNews founder Mohammad Zubair, journalists Rana Ayyub and Saba Naqvi, and Salman Nizami, Maskoor Usmani and Shama Mohamed of Congress

Police said action was taken by Ghaziabad police because all of them had shared the videos on their Twitter handles without verifying it.

The video of the assault had gone viral, but the police later claimed that the six attackers included Hindus and Muslims who were unhappy over the amulets Samad had sold them.
