One of the world's most famous landmarks, the Eiffel Tower in Paris is set to get the most extensive and perhaps expensive revamp in its 130-year history.
First, the layers from 19 previous coats of paint will be removed, followed by a fresh coat of a yellow-brown composition that Gustave Eiffel himself wanted for his monument.
The revamp of the 324-metre-tall Iron Lady, in the run-up for the 2024 Paris Olympics, will cost an estimated 50 million euros.
"It's going to give the Eiffel Tower a bit more of a gold hue than the colour that we're used to seeing, in time for the Olympic Games," Patrick Branco Ruivo, CEO of the company operating the tower told AFP.
