Germany stocks up on flu jabs as a precaution

Apr 30, 2020 14:38 IST

Germany's health minister Jens Spahn, on Wednesday, announced that the government has bought flu vaccines in bulk in case there is an outbreak amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Stating that it would be a major challenge for the healthcare system if it has to deal with a flu wave and a corona wave all at once, he added that a new law has made it possible for doctors to stockpile higher number of vaccines than they stocked last year. As a part of measures being taken to combat Covid-19, the country announced enhanced testing and bonuses for those working on the frontline. As of April 29th, Germany had over 1,60,000 infections of the novel coronavirus with more than 6,000 deaths.
