Germany is suspending the use of AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine for both men and women under the age of 60, Health Senator Dilek Kalayci said.
The suspension comes following the reports of side effects from the vaccine. Kalayci said that the halt will be in place till they wait for the next set of recommendations from regulators.
Previously, Berlin's state hospitals stopped vaccinating women under 55 years of age with AstraZeneca's vaccine shots, due to reports of rare but serious side effects.
Meanwhile, the German state medical regulator has recorded 31 cases of a rare blood clot in the brain after people received an AstraZeneca Covid vaccine.
Earlier in the day, the Canadian government halted the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine for its citizens under the age of 55, stating concerns about potential risks.
