FSSAI proposes colour-coded labels on food

FSSAI proposes colour-coded labels on food
As per the new initiative of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, manufacturers will now be required to display colour-coded labels on products with high fat and sugar content. Red colour coding on chips, soups, biscuits and juices will be used. However, food manufacturers have expressed concerns over the new draft, because even common food items like milk may fall in the 'red category', given that the fat content of milk is above the permissible limits set by the FSSAI. The draft is still in its initial phase and will be finalised based on customer feedback.
